Writing research articles for scientific journals, presenting posters or making oral presentations. Despite the timely period required to collect research data and the plethora of results emerging from the statistical analysis, in the case of a scientific paper or a poster, it all has to be presented sharply and shortly. We do this on a daily basis in BIOSTATS. Using proper scientific text, creative graphs and tables that meet the standards, we consisely present the essence of our findings, taking full responsibility to reply to comments by the reviewers regarding our analysis. Πλάνο στατιστικής ανάλυσης
The Statistical Analysis Plan is indisputably necessary. Designing the subsequent analysis at the same time the protocol is being developed helps define the statistical tests that need to be carried out but also to carefully review the methodological steps that must be followed. The procedure forces the researcher to shed light to every detail of the study and sets it on a sound basis. Mostly, it reveals all the points were bias could be introduced and helps to adopt ways that will avoid it.
Data checking
The presence of mistaken entries or outliers can affect the analysis that is most appropriate. Data checking can be a timely procedure, it must though be given no little attention. Data imputation techniques that could lead to safer inference are also to be considered within thn "data checking" context in the case of missing data.
Interpreting the results
Μία στατιστική ανάλυση οφείλει να είναι κατανοητή από τον ερευνητή που τη διεξάγει παρά το γεγονός ότι ο ίδιος δε μπορεί να την εκπονήσει. Στην BIOSTATS η εμπέδωση των αποτελεσμάτων είναι βασική αρχή. Εκτός από την συγγραφή των αποτελεσμάτων και την ερμηνεία τους, είμαστε πάντα διαθέσιμοι για την εξήγηση των μεθόδων που εφαρμόστηκαν και την εμπέδωσή από τον ερευνητή ώστε η παρουσίαση των ευρημάτων να έχει τον αντίκτυπο που αξίζουν.
Publication
In BIOSTATS we support our partners until the presentation of the findings. Either it concerns a thesis, a conference presentation, or a paper on a scientific journal.
Statistical analysis report
Apart from choosing and applying the appropriate statistical tests, a detailed report is provided with emphasis on the details of the findings. We undertake the writing of a fully detailed report enhanced by tables and well presented figures accompanied by a "statistical analysis" section, setting the ground for a substantial "Discussion" section.
